October is Adopt A Shelter Dog Month
To build awareness for animals in shelters in need of a home, in October I am going to hold a "Cutest Dog Photo Contest."
I never thought of myself as a dog person (you know...one of those people!!!) but then I adopted Molly, a puppy mill rescue Maltese Poodle. We adopted her when she was seven months old. She had spent her first five months of her life in a horrible puppy mill where she was kept inside a garage with very little contact with others. Now Molly is like my baby and I can't imagine life without her.
Dogs who spend time in these puppy mills risk high health problems, abuse, and often have many psychological problems. Often the dogs are raised for pet stores which is why I do not support adopting a pet from these stores. When looking to adopt a pet, go to your local shelter or find replicable breeder. You also can find great pets to adopt at www.petfinder.com
The contest will run from October 1st through the 15th. Email me with pictures of your dog (no professional pictures please) to joycehonigford@yahoo.com In the subject line of the email put "pet photo contest", and then in the email write the name of your pet, how old he/she is, and your name.
I will then upload your pictures. If you add me as a friend to your facebook, I will tag you in your picture so that it posts to your wall. The photo with the most likes will receive a free sitting for their pet and get a $20 print credit.
